“Dover Beach” by Matthew Arnold can be read as a love poem. He has written this poem while on his honeymoon and it can be seen through the poem, that the speaker is not alone. He shares his thoughts with his companion as that can be seen when he uses the word “we” in the poem, denoting that love can solve all problems. He believes that the fights fought by the ignorant armies are not enough to heal mankind but love, even for a fleeting moment, is enough to make life meaningful and regain faith in one another.
