The poem Childhood is nostalgic because the poet is talking about his lost childhood throughout the lines. He talks about the innocence and imaginations which he had during his childhood. He used to believe in Hell and Heaven. But now that he is grown up, he sees adults as hypocrites because they preach about love but have hate in their heart.
Now, the poet has rational mind. He does not believe in imaginary things. This is why he desires to go back to his childhood.
