The message which the poem intends to spread is that people are fickle minded enough to suddenly change opinion and treat you harshly, even by forgetting all the good deeds one had done. The same fate is met by the speaker. He only looks forward to his afterlife as he knows God is aware of all truthfulness and will ensure justice and peace.
