The central idea of the poem Palanquin Bearers is the beauty of Indian customs and traditions. In the poem, the poet describes how the bride is taken to her new home by the palanquin bearers in the palanquin. Those who are carrying her do not consider her as burden but rather call her a beautiful flower and a precious stone. There is emotions of joy as well as sorrow.
