  1. The poem revolves around the theme of perseverance and survival. The flowers that were left discarded due to the indifference of the poet persona survive it. And even manage to form new buds. The new buds also symbolize the new chapter in the perosna’s life. This unique quality of the flowers manages to change the persona’s perspective on things, where earlier she was indifferent to all the things around her, but the end of the poem she starts to care for, or at least gain curiosity about the “spray of orchids”.
