Ophelia loves Hamlet unreservedly. Hamlet may have loved her once but denies any such feelings in the nunnery scene. As it was an act to beguile the eavesdropping Claudius and Polonius, Hamlet may well have been pretending. Their relationship goes off the rails thereonin as Hamlet ends up killing Polonius, Ophelia’s father. This leads to Ophelia’s insanity and suicide. Hamlet realizes his fault and confesses his love for her at her funeral.
