Tempest concludes with the conciliation between Prospero and Alonso. This buries the 12 year old rivalry that caused much chaos for both the families. Adding more gloss to the resolution is the union of Prince Ferdinand and Miranda who provide a better prospects and optimism for the future. Prospero and Alonso forgive Antonio and Sebastian. Even the trio of Caliban, Stefano and Trinculo are forgiven for their plan of murdering Prospero.
The tone of the ending offers a lesson that no matter how big a crime or fault, the doors of repentance and mercy must always stay open.
