In Tempest, there are several master-servant equations that offer a range of emotional interaction. While Ariel and Prospero have a constructive and trusting relationship, Caliban and Prospero share disregard and spite. The mariners and courtiers are not very fond of King Alonso, while Antonio and Sebastian even plot his murder.
Sycorax abuses her servant Ariel while Prospero does the same with Ferdiand, who is actually the prince of Naples. In the end of the play, Ariel and Caliban are both freed from servitude by Prospero, indicating at progress from chains of slavery.
