In the 21st century, television and all other digital platforms have taken quite a hit. Adults, youngsters and even little kids are wrapped up around electronics. They believe that the TV serves as a learning platform and have sought solace in them. Parents, especially working parents, leave their kids glued to the TV thinking it will be enough to keep them quiet and out of mischief. Kids no longer read books or dive into a world of imagination. They don’t think or imagine but are addicted to the TV. The poet urges the parents through the poem to inspire the kids into reading and throw the “idiot box.” The poem is relevant in today’s world where the books are overtaken by the television and the poet advises the parents to change the way their kids are currently being nurtured.
