The word Chivvy means “to tell repeatedly to do something”. In the poem the young child is repeatedly instructed by the grown-ups. He is continuously asked to do and stop doing certain things. This behaviour of grown-ups irritates the young child. This is why he says, “Can’t you make your own mind up about anything?”. Hence the title of the poem is justified and well suited.
