The thrush symbolize limitless joy through its song. Upon the glowing gloom, the speaker is surprised to see a small frail thrush sing its heart out. The thrush is aware of some blessed Hope which the poet is yet to find out. Amidst all the dejection and sadness, the thrush chooses to sing a song which is a “full-hearted evensong.”
