  1. There are many ironic situations in the poem Father to Son. e.g.

    1. Father and his son are living in the same house for many years, yet they talk to each other like strangers. They do not have any interaction.
    2. Son is spendthrift and has wasted all the money of his father yet the father wants too forgive him but still they can’t reach a solution.
    3. In the end, the son breaks the silence and tells his father that he is unable to understand himself and his anger. But in spite of this the gap between them remains intact.

    The whole poem depicts the problems of generation when the parents cannot understand their children. The think that their own experiences are same as those of their children. However with changing time, the new generation faces now challenges and problems that creates generation gap.
